Thoughts

In my life I cannot say that I have been privy to multiple friendships along the way. When you really think about the definition of friendship it’s difficult to think that a person could really think that friendship equates to high numbers. Unless we are solely speaking in terms of face book connections, or MySpace acceptances

“A friend sticks closer than a brother"

“A true friend is someone you can pour the contents of your heart into."

“Friendship is the bond between two hearts, the trust between two souls, and the connection between one entity in multiple beings."

These are just a few of the things that people say about friendship. I myself have come to the place where I believe that we no longer know how, or even want to be friends, as we are to predisposed with our own agendas to establish a true connection with anyone who is not enabling our plan, furthering our future, or adding some sort of connection through association to get us to wherever it is we want to be. In today’s world friends are people who merely contribute to our cause, fulfill or needs, and buy us things. It's a sad day in the world when we arrive to our goals destination and look over and have no real one to share it with as the pile of individual to our left are individuals we have used and stepped over to get here, and the pile to our right are mere people we call when we need a reference, a contribution, or a powerful "in" to the society that’s needed to get us to the next level.

In my personal life up until a year ago I was a person who was on the search for friends, always appeasing, doing, and trying the whole nine. It was until then I realized the folks I hung out with in my past life that I called "friend" never really were my friends in the first place. I mean yes we had great laughs and giggles, we may have even hung together for a period of time, but I have found that they were more important to me than I was to them. "You can't say that Myster!" Oh but I can! Through secret conversations that weren’t so secret, phone calls that were thought to be disconnected or the forwards of e mails that ended up in my lap, the constant belittling remarks, or the way I felt after leaving the presence of a person I called friend. All these were determining factors in what led me to understand that I never really in my life had the friendship I sought after.

A family later, with responsibilities, an outlook on life that does not involve just myself and the blessing of being a provider I now see things differently (that would include myself). If in this life I never attain a friend outside of my union as I desire I have learned that I am my own best friend, I am the greatest keeper of my secrets. I am the mystery that as yet to be solved and the greatest novel that has yet to be read. I think we as individual should be choosier with who and how we share ourselves with others. We should listen quicker then we speak, and if we sit back in a crowded room of humans we can always see how things will play out without even wasting time and effort.

A song writer once wrote “in times like this we need the lord.” Oh how I agree however it would not hurt to have true friends that see you as a valuable gift given to them, homies who are there for you no matter what, and girlfriends that don’t get catty when you show up dressed better than them while wearing the same shoes! Life’s way to short!

In the place that I am now I can say in confidence that I have made great connections, but I only chose to connect with individuals who character show me that they choose gifts (like myself) for the indurations of a life time, and in the end once it’s all sealed in the bond of friendship, the greatest revelation is the contents of my heart poured out over the soil of the garden of their soul that contains the good seeds I have sewn into them and they in me. I challenge you today to value yourself as your own best friend, and to be better friends to the friends you have.

Woman with a sense of style

I'm not here to discuss lyrics, rhyme content, subliminal messages or explicit suggestion right now. I'm also not one to tune into music these days as my personal feelings on the issue is that music is dead. I have been introduced to the entity of Nicki Minaj. Say what you want, and think what you will, this woman most defiantly has a sense of style! I don't know if its her stylist that her label has given her, or if she has a team  of well tuned members keeping her together, but whatever it is, it works and you cant take that away from her.

If you were to google her name the ream of photos would be endless all artistic in some nature. I enjoy her most without the eight inch thick bang so it was no question as to why I chose this picture. I must say upfront I am not a fan of her music but more her sense of style, ANYONE who can rock a serious multi colored cut, or green hair and make it look good gets two thumbs up in my book!
If your hair is not growing then you can't be using this! Allot of products tell you things and have you believing you can pull sunshine from a toilet bowl! This right here is that deal! I do use this on my clients as well its a cream that strengthens hair, and makes it manageable! Any texture, any condition, any kind! use it! you  will see a difference
This is one of the stylist I work with! Upbeat bubbly and a shoe game to be reckoned with! Her name is Aleisia, and she has always been the same when I see her! Professional, and attentive to clients. I chose to blog about her today because she always comes to see about me, always makes sure I'm doing alright, and we always have a laugh throughout the day!KEEP IT UP LEISIA!

Product must have!

There are very few items that I use, that are available to the unlicensed consumer. However this product here is something that all hair types must have! I swear by it as a finishing aid to all my clients. Seals the hair cuticle adds shine and luster and is not heavy on the hair at all.

My favorite interior style

This is from one of the rooms in the Fleur De Lys" estate. It also happens to be one of my favorite decorating styles. You can't get more grand then this estate here as it has been mentioned as one of the priciest in the world.

Make up must have

Alright ladies(and some gents) we re moving into a new year and we are promoting "the best self" possible inside and out! If your going to have the best face of 2011 it all starts with good tools! You should have the best tools you can afford to achieve the best face possible, and professional will tell you that your tools are the agent that yields you those show stopping looks you so desire to achieve. On any budget make up  brushes are the must have. If your pockets are penny pinching right now you can purchase these brushes pictured above at your local CVS on an affordable budget!

Get one!

When the economy crashed just after the rich jumped out to protect themselves, I down sized from a Tahoe to this and even though I'm not in a truck I still have control of the road with the 300. This car drives good, rides well, and treats you as you treat it! I have no complaints  have not had the time or cash to trick mines out like I want to but I am thinking that will all change in the up and coming year! I would recommend this car to anyone!

Decanter

This right here ladies and gentlemen is old school ballin at its finest! New money don't know much about these but old money knew you had to have your sip in the solitude of your closed parlor doors. Expensive Cognac, expensive glass and the party that entertain societies elite! Far before home stripper poles and stretched out hood rats were the status symbol of our day! I'm no drinker but please know there's an empty set in my home!

Tool reviews

VS
Until recently I was sold on the GHD brand, I however happened to relocate Salons, and was introduced to a new flatiron by the Babyliss brand. With GHD I have the "smartchip" technology advantage of having my flatiron  go into a idle mode after twenty minutes of non usage thus saving energy(go green!). It will also stop heating if there is any sort of condensation problem. Those are great attributes the heat is even throught the tourmaline plates, and the design is great for usage.

When introduced to the Babyliss brand there were not allot of bells and whistles. You would think at first sight you were working with an inferior product, but don't be fooled! You have a standard design, and adjustable heating switch, an off/on button and titanium blades. I noticed the Babyliss flat iron done better with my clients who had natural hair, I did not have to go over the hair sections multiple times but with my GHD I did, the end results were the same, straightened hair with a shine and wonderful manageability however the Babyliss flat iron gave me the same result with less work.

When using the Babyliss on clients with weave I noticed that it was not such a great contender. For weave and extensions I had to resort back to my GHD brand. As a stylist I would recommend both brands however I would simply see having them both just as having multiple curling irons or brushes, both irons hold their own weight, both irons do a great job, however both irons are very different in ability and design.
Alright! Many times I am very upset with whomever this lady has hired as her stylist, but today I'm not here to discuss that. Let’s talk about this single that's slowly being released to the masses and the impact that it has and will have on the brothas ability to lock down a winter mate for the cold season!

The song was written by Mr. R. Kelly himself but I don't think ANYONE could have sung the song better than our sister Kelly Price! The song opens up nice with strings and a nice intro, but still demanding attention. the opening phrase is
there's a hole in my heart and my soul is bleeding!
Ummm.  .  .   Imma need America to know I was in the process of a weave installment and had to observe a momentary pause as this woman expressed what had her so full. Ladies and germs when she finished releasing herself I was free, she was free, and the weave that I was installing was almost free until I came to myself real quick and realized I was indeed tired of being broke (big laughs hahahahah lol)

Fellas! This is a 9-1-1, if you have not locked down your cold season contestant for the season you better get your grind on before! This song gets the playing time it deserves, as soon your gonna find your bed cold, your sheets chilled and your black book dwindling down to a gray shadow of what it used to be! Hahahahaha!

The "R"

This dude has been called everything, from "the catholic priest of R&B" to the "pied piper of under aged" panties. Whatever he's been called I'm going to have to say he is a musical genius and master mind. This dudes performance was SERIOUS! On this years soul train music awards! The performance was of an upbeat of his version of "when a woman loves a man." The high steps were followed by a dangerous piano performance that made you wanna slap your momma! That fella tickled those keys so sever it made you wake up pay attention and for a moment forget what you heard and remember the time when you wanted more!
To me this shoe says "Treat me like a lady but do wrong and I'll beat you like a man!" Hmmmm either way I'm following!

I do!

24 karat blue diamond ring! Who wants the proposal? LOL!
christian-louboutin-for-rodarte-spiky-heelsI so dig the different, the creative, or those who have the gonads to rock wear against the grain of societies norm! These right here are the business! I know we wont see these around your regular "pick-n-Spence" or at your local hole in the wall LADIES!(and some gents) this is Christian Louboutin at its finest!

"Classic Design"

Some say its come back with a serious vengeance, and many say it’s never left. "The Bob" ladies and germs! That’s right the classic style that's hailed from the roaring 20's and still exist with much life into the now millennium where we are today. Flipped, swopped, dipped, colored, snipped, pixied (a term used to reference short and spiky), feathered, flat ironed, or parted. Cut asymmetrically, bluntly, or creatively, depending on the individual, the bob is that classic style that has proven its versatility throughout time and has changed its face through the many generations that have come to love it!

I once complained about this cut this year, as for a period of time it’s all that was requested of me, as we quickly exit and enter a new year I have come to embrace it!

Tabithas Salon Takeover

As a stylist I was very intrigued about "Tabitha’s Salon Take Over." Although I have not had much time to follow the show on a consecutive basis, I can say that the theme pretty much is the same from salon to salon. Business is bad, profits are low, the owner has crawled into a place of simple survival and the employees need some sort of behavioral management. In all I like the show, as a stylist it's relatable. I think it’s great that this woman is a last hope that results in help for a person's business, and it’s entertaining, because this woman is as sharp as three titanium razors

Stopping Cycles

It has been said that in life there are cycles that repeat themselves, and seasons that always return. If we choose to believe that we have the power to change cycles in our lives as they come through various seasons, I am wondering what things will we choose to change, coming from a not so good 2009 and a not so promising 2010. What cycles in your life will you chose to not repeat, and what seasons in your life will be altered for a lifetime as a result of the "choice" you have/are making to never repeat again.
